Litter Vigilante Campaign 2025 - 26
|
Judging for the National TidyTowns competition is about to start!
Making sure Monaghan looks it’s best, not just for judges but for residents and visitors as well is the responsibility of everyone, not just the volunteers and council. You can help by: Do a 2minutestreetclean on your street or join a TidyTowns clean up. Dog litter? - Bag it, bin it. Any bin can be used. Cigarettes - bin your butt when you're done! Bring a reusable cup for coffee. Join your local residents association and organise a local clean up. Report littering, graffiti or dumping to [email protected] Plant pollinator friendly plants or leave an area to grow wild. Businesses - make sure your area is litter free, you are responsible for 100m around your business! Store bins off the street if possible. Clear any weeds from outside your premises (preferably without weedkiller), plant a window box with pollinator friendly plants. Avoid flyposting. |
Monaghan Tidy Towns are continuously updating our anti-litter campaign. With a great increase in volunteers, a community approach and collaborating with the council, we have been succeeding in keeping litter levels low, leading to a 2nd (June 2024) and 3rd place (December 2024) in the IBAL national results.
In 2023/24 we updated our risk assessment protocols, created a Do's and Dont's advice leaflet and developed a kit for volunteers. . After a committee meeting, we agreed and actioned the following documents and actions which we are sharing with all TT groups in our TT county network. We are making all available on this web site to be shared and/or adapted by all
